Cupid

Cupid is a seven year old, chestnut Quarter Horse, mare. In her past Cupid had been neglected and abused by her owners. The scars she bears are minor in comparison to her loss of trust and the rage she aimed at anyone within her reach. Jackie was 10 years old when she met Cupid and had about zero experience with horses. Yet, she seemed to be the only one who understood Cupid and liked her.

It took a long time and hard work, but she began to trust Jackie and the more she trusted her the happier she seemed to be. In the summer of 2006 Jackie's parents finally agreed to buy her before she was taken to auction and sold by her owners. She was kept at the same barn for a little while, but it wasn’t the right environment for the new owner and her mare. The Porter family started looking around and after boarding at several places, including a cow farm, they came to Hidden Creek.
Cupid is the happiest the Porter family has ever seen her and Jackie and Cupid both have continued to progress together. Anne and Bob have taken great care of Cupid when she was sick or hurt and have taught Jackie a lot about caring for her. They haven’t even kicked them out (despite many 30 DAYS NOTICE!!!) for Cupid’s troublemaking when out with the girls. She thinks she’s the boss of everyone and likes to keep all the hay to herself.
Cupid is presently out with a herd of 3 other mares, called the three non-blonds (all white) and is totally the queen bee. She is so happy being here and everyone enjoys watching all the mischief she causes at Hidden Creek!
