The Barn
The barn was built in May of 2002 by Groffdale Barns of Lancaster, PA.
Check into the information below … we invite you into
our barn and onto the farm to learn about our facilities
and what we have to offer our boarders.

Turn-Out Pastures
The farm has 7 pastures with 3 split-rail vinyl fencing that is
electrified on the top rail. Pasture size ranges from 2-3 acres, all
of which open up to each other with a common fence/gate, to make
larger pasture space, if needed. Front and back pastures are
randomly closed for an entire season, to rotate pasture space,
and allow the grass to recover.

Lay-Up
Paddock
There is a small lay-up paddock for injured horses, horses who need
isolated turn out or horses who are not allowed on full turn out.
The pasture has just enough room for the horse to stretch his legs,
but not enough for him to do further damage by being able to run. |

Riding Arena/Trails
The outdoor riding arena is fenced in and has four sets of outdoor
stadium lighting for night riding. The arena is 100 x
200 feet, with quarry dust footing that was recommended
by the USET in Bedminster, New Jersey. The footing
drains easily and safe riding can continue even during
the winter months. There are all types of jumps in the
arena for any discipline. The arena can comfortably hold
two horses being lessoned at the same time, or a small
group of riders using the arena for pleasure. There
is also has a 60 foot John Lyons Round pen for training.
There is seven acres of wooded, untouched land on their
property, with a creek running through it -- hence,
Hidden Creek Farm. There boarders can hack out their
horses on a short romp through the woods, or use Bob's
polo field to run, or go out to their 6 acre hay field
for exercise. Along side the farm are other horse farms,
where riding your horse is allowed by the neighbors, and
a 45 acre cow farm that allows riding as well. For more
adventure, you can join the Pittstown Trail |

Parking
Lot
Hidden Creek Farm boasts a very large parking lot for it's boarders
and owners. There is enough room for boarders to park their horse
trailers and are allowed to leave the trailers on the premises. The
owners made sure the parking lot was large enough for a tractor
trailer to come in and unload hay, so there is ample room for
everyone. |

Aisle
The aisle is 12 feet wide with 4 sets of crossties located along
the way. Near every set of cross ties is a saddle holder
for your saddle when tacking up. There is plenty of room
to groom as well as allow other horses to walk by if
need be. Water hydrants are on both sides of the barn
aisle. The floor is brushed cement, so even when wet,
there is no slipping or sliding of horses hoofs. The
aisle is well lit with double rows of florescent
lighting (waterproof and shatterproof covers) from one
end to the other. The aisle also has electric outlets
next to each and every stall door for your convenience
(and adding fans in
the summer!). Sliding
doors are on each side of the aisle for entering and
exiting the barn. |
|
Stalls
There are 9 regular horse stalls as well as one foaling stall
located in the barn. The 9 regular stalls measure 12x12, are fully
matted, have sliding, barred doors into the aisle as well as Dutch
doors facing outside. The end stalls also have sliding windows that
are opened in the Summer for the horses to hang their heads out.
Anne uses small pine shavings from Canada (Black River). Each stall
door has a blanket rack and halter hook for each individual horse.
Nameplates are welcomed! |
Indoor
Wash Stall
The indoor wash stall measures 12 x 12. There is hot and cold
running water with ample lighting (same safety lights as in the
aisle). Anne & Bob plan on putting in some heat lamps in the near
future. A really nice touch in the wash stall are hooks hanging from
the ceiling all around the wash stall. This is a really clever way
to hang the wet blankets and sheets up to dry, especially in the
winter months when use of the wash stall is at a minimum. |

Tack Room
There is a large, beautiful tack room in the barn, with
a ceiling fan and windows. It has double rows of
saddle racks on two walls and bridle hooks along the
remaining two walls. It is set up so that every
boarder can bring their tack trunk and grooming
equipment to store at Hidden Creek. There are even
chairs in there for putting on your boots.

Lounge
The lounge is a great place to take a break after a long day of
riding. There is a couch for resting as well as a table
to eat your lunch on. A fridge is available for use for
food and beverages, but it is usually filled with
carrots and apples for the horses! The lounge also has a
microwave and the cabinets above are stocked with all
kinds of goodies for the boarders to enjoy. The tack
room is heated in the winter months, which is really
wonderful. And in the warm summer months, the ceiling
fan helps boarders cool down.

Other
Info
Outside the tack room and lounge is a beautiful back porch, with a
picnic table and chairs. Here anyone can enjoy the view of the farm,
and watch their horses romp, while taking a break or eating a snack.
Even the barn girls night out has used the front porch for it's
meeting place!
Yes! there is a bathroom. A really nice, private bathroom (you
don't have to use the stalls!!!). The bathroom is also heated in the
winter months and it is large enough to change in if you are coming
from work. There are hooks on the walls to hang your clothes, and a
mirror to check and make sure you look great before heading out to
ride! |
